A Sequel, a Third Season, and a Graphic Novel

With season three of The Handmaid’s Tale soon to be released, a few of us might need a crash course on what happened in the beginning. Luckily, this graphic novel is a great refresher for the June 5th launch on Hulu. It’s a great summary of the original novel being all business and no fluff.

Also in Handmaiden news is that Margaret Atwood recently announced a SEQUEL!! That’s right. The Testaments novel by Margaret Atwood is set to release on September 10, 2019. No word yet on how it will coincide with the second season on Hulu. What we do know is that this novel takes place 15 years after Offred’s last scene in the original 1985 novel and will also be narrated by 3 female characters.

“Dear Readers: Everything you’ve ever asked me about Gilead and its inner workings is the inspiration for this book. Well, almost everything! The other inspiration is the world we’ve been living in.”

Artwork for this graphic novel is done by the adaptor herself, Renee Hault, and I have to say it’s stunning, beautiful and important. Hault really captures the most important points of the story in an intricately graceful way. I will say, however, that this is a graphic novel in both senses of the word and it’s not for the faint of heart.

So if you need to catch up, weather it’s for season three on Hulu or you’re gearing up for the sequel novel, grab this gorgeous graphic novel and settle in for a frighting look into just one of many possible futures.

The Testaments: Sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood is set to release on September 10, 2019. Season 3 of the hit Hulu original is scheduled to air on June 5, 2019.
